On 11-14 June 2025, The Italy’s National University Centre for Applied Economic Studies, called CiMET, organized its twenty-second annual Wokshop in Lecce, Italy.

As in last year‘s edition, this year REMAKING has also been present at the workshop, with its own session, where several members of the project have been able to present topics related to the project and remote work.

The session, moderated by Ilaria Mariotti from Politecnico di Milano, featured five presentations by REMAKING members.

Ilaria Mariotti and Federica Rossi, among other Politecnico di Milano members, presented a discussion entitled ‘Job satisfaction of remote workers in Europe’. And Mariotti and Rossi also participated together with Luca Alfieri in the presentation ‘Should I stay or should I go? Remote workers in the Lombardy region’. They also presented the work ‘Zooming In on Satisfaction: How Does Hybrid Working Shape Life Satisfaction?’

Patrizia Leone and Giuseppe Pignataro from University of Bologna presented the work ‘Remote Work, Spatial Flexibility, and Inequalities in Mobility: Evidence from Bologna’

Leone, alongside Marco R. Di Tommaso and Elena Prodi participated with ‘REmote-working Multiple Impacts in the Age of Disruptions: Socioeconomic Transformations, Territorial RethinKING, and Policy Actions: The Current Debate and Some Selected Research Trajectories’.

The “CiMET Workshops” are annual gatherings that provide a platform for presenting and discussing research papers, ongoing studies, and real-world policy efforts related to the core themes of the CiMET community. These include the structural transformation of economies and societies, internationalization of businesses and regions, local development trajectories, industrial strategies, and policies that support innovation, research, and the generation and diffusion of knowledge.

While the primary focus is on Italy and other industrialized countries, the workshops also place significant emphasis on research that investigates trends and developments in emerging and developing economies.
